Devon Levi credited his preparation and attention to detail after helping the Edmonton Oilers beat the Seattle Kraken 3-1 on Saturday.
Levi made 19 saves on 20 shots in his official home debut at Rogers Place. He also earned First Star honors after making several key stops during Seattle’s late pressure.
The performance gave Edmonton a much-needed steady outing in goal after Levi allowed seven goals in the Oilers’ previous game.
Speaking with NHL reporter Gene Principe, Levi explained how his preparation helped him handle the tight game.
“Yeah, I do a lot of eye work, vision work, you know, being able to slow down the play with my eyes,” Levi said.
The 24-year-old also credited his goalie coaches for helping him develop those habits.
“I work with my goalie coach, Marco, back home. Pete Aubrey here has been amazing,” Levi said. “So, yeah, I mean, the boys played a heck of a game tonight, blocked it down defensively.
“And it was really fun. It was a really fun day. “

Levi emphasized that his work away from the ice helps him stay prepared for difficult situations during games.
“Yeah, you know, it’s just those little details, those little habits that you can fall back on in-game,” Levi said. “That you can trust, you know, you put in the work and you did what you needed to. It helps, so, yeah.”
That preparation became important during the third period. Levi made an acrobatic save on Jordan Eberle before a lengthy review confirmed the puck had not crossed the goal line.
Edmonton also provided stronger defensive support than in its previous game. The Oilers limited Seattle to 20 shots while protecting a one-goal advantage late.
Connor McDavid recorded a goal and an assist, giving him nine points through Edmonton’s first three games. Leon Draisaitl scored the eventual game-winning goal with 2:27 remaining.
Levi said the early experience with Edmonton has been special.
“Being with this group, unbelievable group, amazing fans, you know, it’s all you can ask for,” he said.
