The slide continued for the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night as they fell 6-5 to the Ducks. Edmonton started fast but could not protect a late lead. The loss marked the club’s fourth in a row, with three losses before the Olympic break.
Matt Savoie wasted no time making an impact. He set up Jack Roslovic just 13 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. Connor McDavid then found Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in front at 9:03 to extend the advantage. Anaheim answered minutes later when Ian Moore cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Ducks tied the game in the second period on a power-play rebound by Alex Killorn. Zach Hyman tipped in a pass late in the frame to restore a 3-2 lead. Evan Bouchard struck 35 seconds later to push the margin to 4-2. Edmonton appeared in control heading into the third, but things slipped out of control, and they lost.
Later, the Oilers posted the final score on X.
After the post, fans did not hold back.
“Embarrassing, welcome the decline of season ticket holders,” One fan said after the loss.
