The Edmonton Oilers suffered a heavy 7-2 defeat against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night, and fans quickly voiced their frustration online.
Jason Robertson delivered a dominant performance with two goals and two assists to match his career high in points. Jamie Benn also scored twice as Dallas extended its impressive run. The Stars have now gone 13-0-1 in their last 14 NHL games, their longest stretch since the 1998-99 campaign.
The Oilers found little momentum throughout the game. Evan Bouchard and Jason Dickinson scored Edmonton’s only goals, while goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped 20 shots. Jarry now has just one win in his last six starts.

Dallas also swept the three-game season series against Edmonton, the same team that eliminated the Stars in each of the past two Western Conference finals.
The Oilers official X account shared the final result on X and wrote, “Back at it tomorrow in St. Louis.”
Fans did not hide their disappointment after the loss.
One fan wrote, “Ouch, this one hurts…”
Another fan simply called the result “Embarrassing.”
“Well, at least they can say they beat the Avs,” A fan wrote, referring to the Oilers’ previous 4-3 win against the Avalanche.
“Oilers cannot play with the big boys!! I thought this was the year for McDavid Get rid if goalies, coach, and defense,” One fan mentioned.
“This team needs to run Ingram and Pickard. What an awful trade Bowman made. Wow.” A fan wrote about Tristan Jarry’s trade.
A fan requested, saying, “Please send Jarry down and bring Picks or Ungar up. This needs done yesterday.”
“Remember when Edmonton thought they won the Jarry/Skinner trade😭,” A fan reacted.
“You know, I think this is the first time I’ve ever felt happy about the Oilers after a blowout loss. Better now than in the playoffs, that’s when we’ll beat them again👍🏻 The boys showed heart and fight right to the end, literally in the latter’s case. More work to be done, though,” A fan mentioned.
Are the Oilers going to make it to the playoffs?
In the loss, Edmonton captain Connor McDavid saw his 19-game road point streak come to an end. Despite the defeat, the Oilers remain competitive this season with a 32-26-8 record and 72 points, sitting third in the Pacific Division.
The team still relies heavily on its offense. McDavid leads the league with 110 points, while Leon Draisaitl continues to provide elite scoring support. Bouchard also leads all NHL defensemen with 76 points.

However, defensive struggles continue to trouble Edmonton. The team allows more than three goals per game and has lacked consistency in net. That issue appeared again against a surging Dallas squad.
The Oilers will try to respond quickly as they finish their four-game road trip against the St. Louis Blues on Friday night.
