Cristiano Ronaldo shared an emotional tribute to his friend Pepe on Instagram after Pepe announced his retirement. Ronaldo posted photos of their shared victories and wrote,
“No words to express how much you mean to me my friend. We won everything there was to win on the field, but the biggest achievement is the friendship and respect I have for you. You are unique my brother. Thank you for so much.”
Pepe, a legendary Portuguese defender, retired at 41. His last game was at Euro 2024, where Portugal lost to France in the quarterfinals. Pepe made 141 appearances for Portugal, winning the 2016 Euros. He also had a successful club career, spending 10 seasons at Real Madrid, where he won three LaLiga titles and three Champions League trophies. Pepe returned to Porto in 2019 and won four Primeira Liga titles before ending his career.
Ronaldo’s message is just an expression of the strong bond he shared with Pepe both on and off the field.
