The Dallas Cowboys’ offensive struggles continued Sunday night, leaving NFL analysts questioning how a talented unit could produce so little. Dallas suffered a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, falling to 2-4 under head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Jon Machota of The Athletic expressed his frustration on X, pointing to the talent available on Dallas’ offense.
“There’s too much talent on the Cowboys’ offense to look this bad,” Machota wrote. “Everything is difficult for them tonight, just like last week against Tampa Bay. Makes no sense.”
Sports reporter Sam Gannon shared a similar assessment, writing, “Things should not be this hard for this offense.”
The Cowboys trailed 17-0 at halftime, marking their first scoreless first half since November 2021. Dak Prescott finished with 258 passing yards, completing 34 of 54 attempts, but threw two costly interceptions.

Cowboys face questions despite improved defensive showing
Writer Brandon Loree highlighted the contrast between Dallas’ defensive progress and its continuing offensive problems.
“Cowboys continue their loss streak vs Green Bay Packers. We got some answers on defense. We have no answers on offense,” Loree wrote, describing where the team currently stands.
The defense entered Sunday allowing a league-high 6.4 yards per play. Dallas recorded its first interception of the season when Dee Winters made a diving catch in the first quarter. However, Prescott’s turnovers prevented Dallas from capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Green Bay intercepted him twice on consecutive possessions inside its own 30-yard area.
Prescott connected with Ryan Flournoy for a late touchdown, but Dallas could not complete the two-point conversion. The offense never seriously threatened Green Bay’s lead.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged the team’s position after the defeat.
“We’re in a hole,” Schottenheimer said. “Put ourselves there. There’s one way out of it. That’s what I told the guys. Got to work. Got to find solutions. Can’t repeat mistakes.”
“We’re in a hole,” Schottenheimer said. “Put ourselves there. There’s one way out of it. That’s what I told the guys. I said, ‘You know, got to work. Got to find solutions. Can’t repeat mistakes.’ They understand that.”
Meanwhile, Locked On Cowboys host Marcus Mosher highlighted another concern, noting Dallas is now 9-13-1 under Schottenheimer.

The Cowboys must find answers quickly before their season slips further away. Their next test comes against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 26, leaving little time to correct their offensive issues.
