The Edmonton Oilers are peaking at the right time, riding a five-game win streak that has pushed them into the top spot in the NHL‘s Pacific Division. While Connor McDavid continues to lead the offense, the recent surge has been driven by improved goaltending from Connor Ingram and Tristan Jarry.
Edmonton’s latest win, a 3-1 result over the Chicago Blackhawks, highlighted that balance. Jarry stopped 17 of 18 shots, delivering a steady performance after a challenging stretch earlier in the season. Though he remains the secondary option, his recent form has provided stability behind Ingram.
Before that, Ingram set the tone with a 27-save shutout in a 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken. The performance marked his second shutout of the season and extended his winning streak to three games. He has allowed just five goals over that span, giving Edmonton confidence in net.

McDavid pointed directly to that improvement when asked about the team’s defensive turnaround.
“Yeah, the goalies have been playing really well,” McDavid said, while speaking to the media after a win over the Blackhawks. “The kill has been good. When you’re not giving up one on the kill every night, you give yourself a chance to put some low numbers on the board, and the goalies have played really well.”
The Oilers’ streak includes wins over the Utah Mammoth, Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken, and Chicago. During this run, Edmonton has tightened up defensively while maintaining offensive production.
Ingram has emerged as the clear No. 1 option, posting a 2.69 goals-against average and strong overall numbers this season. Jarry, despite inconsistent stats, has contributed with key wins, taking three of his last four starts.

McDavid also pointed to improved engagement across the roster. He noted that players are more involved and committed, which has translated into results.
“It’s been good,” McDavid said. “It’s obviously been good. Not just because we’re winning games, but you can tell the emotional engagement is there. Guys are just a little bit more engaged in the game.”
