“I mean, as good a game as I’ve seen from a defenseman,” McDavid said. “He can do that. You know, that’s his level. His best is among the best in the world, not just defensemen. He’s a special player, and he played great.”

“Yeah. When he gets time, it’s pretty impressive,” McDavid said. “He can shoot it hard, he can shoot it accurately, he can do just about anything with it.”

About Bouchard’s other roles and Importance.

“Yeah, I mean, he’s killing penalties,” McDavid said. “First over the boards for the penalty kill. He has to do a lot of different things. Connor McDavid: He just keeps getting better and better. I can’t say enough good things about the guy.”

“You know what, I thought we were good,” McDavid said. “I thought we were the better team out there. I thought we were unlucky to be down at times, and we just stuck with it. Again, not the prettiest win, but one that we needed, and we’ll move on from that.”

About Bouchard’s surge in performance after early struggles this season.

“No, He nailed it. Not too high, not too low,” McDavid said. “Bouch had three and three, six points plus five, and he’s the same tonight. You guys will talk to him. He’s the same as if nothing happened. He’s a special player. Not much else I can say.”

About Bouchard’s potential spot in Team Canada for the Olympics.
“He wouldn’t be in a tough spot there,” McDavid said. “He’s a heck of a player among a lot of great Canadian defensemen. It’s a good problem to have, and I’m sure management has been watching.

McDavid now has 90 points, with 32 goals and 58 assists this season, highlighting his elite play. The Oilers have scored an average of 3.33 goals per game and lead the league with a 32.2% power-play rate, building success around McDavid’s production.
