Simone Biles carried the Olympic flag during the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony. She was joined by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Afterward, Biles passed the flag to Tom Cruise, who rode away on a motorcycle. This marked the transition to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Cruise’s ride was part of a pre-recorded video showing him speeding through Paris and boarding a plane. The flag was later given to Olympic athletes Kate Courtney, Michael Johnson, and Jagger Eaton. The ceremony ended with performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Billie Eilish at Venice Beach.

Simone Bile came in support of Jordan Chiles’ bronze medal controversy
Simone Biles and Suni Lee supported Jordan Chiles after her Olympic bronze medal was at risk. The Center of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Chiles’ score should be reverted because the U.S. filed an inquiry too late. The International Olympic Committee then asked Chiles to return her bronze medal.
“Sending you so much love Jordan,” Biles said in IG Stories. “Keep your chin up olympic champ! We love you!”
USA Gymnastics appealed, arguing that they submitted the inquiry in time. Chiles shared her sadness online, and Biles and Lee sent her encouraging messages. If Chiles loses her medal, she would be only the third gymnast in history to have an Olympic medal stripped. The controversy is currently not settled.
