Cristiano Ronaldo visited the White House on Wednesday, November 19, where he met President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Photos shared by the White House showed Ronaldo, Trump, and Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodríguez smiling and posing with thumbs up. The official White House account posted the images on X with the caption,
“Two GOATS. CR7 x 45/47,” which quickly gained wide attention online.
The meeting took place one day after Ronaldo attended events in Washington as part of the Saudi delegation accompanying Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Ronaldo had also attended a black-tie dinner hosted by Trump the previous night.
During Tuesday’s gala, Trump revealed that his son Barron is a big fan of Ronaldo. He joked that Barron respected him “a little bit more” after getting to meet the football star.
Ronaldo had recently spoken about Trump in an interview, saying he believed the former president could “make things happen.” He also expressed a desire to meet Trump and said he had something personal he hoped to share with him. Wednesday’s meeting fulfilled that wish, though Ronaldo did not reveal the private detail he mentioned earlier.

More context behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s visit to White House
Ronaldo’s appearance at the White House drew attention for additional reasons. His presence highlighted growing ties between the United States and Saudi Arabia, especially in sports and business. Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in global sports as part of its modernization plans, which include reducing dependence on oil.

Ronaldo has become one of the country’s most prominent international figures since joining Al Nassr in 2022. His visit to Washington reflects how sports figures are increasingly included in high-level diplomatic events.
The dinner was also attended by tech leaders such as Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook. It marked Musk’s first visit to the White House since leaving his role in the Trump administration’s Department for Government Efficiency earlier this year. Ronaldo’s visit, meanwhile, was one of his first public appearances in the United States in several years.
The Portuguese star may return to the U.S. in 2026 for a planned Portugal–USA friendly match in Atlanta ahead of the FIFA World Cup. If confirmed, it would be his first match on American soil since 2014.
