The Edmonton Oilers continued their late-season surge with a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Rogers Place on Thursday. The result pushed Edmonton to five straight wins and into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division.

Another pointed to improved defensive structure at the right moment. The growing confidence reflects a team finding rhythm despite key injuries. “Becoming a well-glued defensive wagon at the right time, boys,” he wrote.

Connor McDavid played a central role again, assisting on a power-play goal to extend his point streak to six games. He is leading the league with 126 points, staying ahead of Nikita Kucherov. Though his goal streak ended, his playmaking remained sharp.
Adam Henrique, Matt Savoie, and Vasily Podkolzin scored for Edmonton, while Tristan Jarry made 17 saves. The Oilers have now won seven of their last nine games, showing depth even without Leon Draisaitl.
Chicagoโs struggles continued as they dropped their fifth straight and fell out of playoff contention. Nick Lardis scored the lone goal, while Spencer Knight made 31 saves despite a brief exit due to equipment trouble.

The game opened scoreless before Henrique broke through at 5:32 of the second period. He finished a breakaway after strong neutral-zone work created the chance.
Savoie doubled the lead on the power play at 12:13, redirecting a pass from McDavid through traffic. A later goal from Savoie was overturned after an offside review, keeping the score at 2-0.

Chicago responded early in the third as Lardis converted a rebound chance, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The goal came off a point shot involving Connor Bedard.
Podkolzin sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 18:59.
Edmonton now prepares to host the Vegas Golden Knights, aiming to extend its momentum and strengthen its playoff push.
